So, a couple of months ago, I did something really brave: I decided to go cold-turkey on my whole “multiple niche” approach to life (and blogging).
I decided I’d spend 30 days focusing only on a single niche that had been sort of assigned to me by the universe. At the end of the 30 days, I received an invitation to participate in a pretty big online summit that was perfect for the niche – but the event was a month away. So, I decided I’d give it another month. The summit, despite a small hiccup, went incredibly well.
As you probably know, finding your niche is the key to finding your place in the online world of profitable blogging. While I absolutely love writing about…well, writing… and my career in general, I’m going to try something new this month.
I can’t tell you how often people assume that being an online writing pro is all about sitting around in your PJs playing on your computer; not to mention how often people come to me and ask me how they can do what I do – work at home and actually make a living doing it. Continue Reading →
If you’ve considered writing a Kindle ebook, you’ve probably thought about what the best-seller lists usually look like – a whole lot of fiction peppered with a few breakout self-help books. Continue Reading →
If I told you that, for a blogger, “the money’s in the list,” how would it make you feel? If you ask me, it can feel intimidating and exhilarating all at once. What blogger doesn’t want to experience the joy of sending out a single email and seeing sales pour in? The only problem is that many don’t know how to start their list building endeavors. But I have good news! Continue Reading →
One of the most important parts of being in any business is communication with your clients, customers and could-be clients and customers. When it comes to autoresponders, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it – and today, we’re going to talk about that. Types of Emails You Can Send via Autoresponder
There are two different kinds of emails you can send when it comes to your autoresponder – broadcast emails and follow up emails. Broadcast emails are blasted out to your list(s) one time. Continue Reading →
Setting up a good email autoresponder system is important for an online writing pro and blogger (not to mention small business owner) because it helps you build your list right from the very beginning. Related: All About Building Your List
Some people go the free route because they worry that their list won’t build or convert for them, and they want a return on their investment. The problem is that you eventually have to transfer your list to a paid model with more capabilities and no intrusive advertisements that you’ll have to compete with when you email from a free autoresponder. Many marketers choose to use Aweber. This tool is affordable when you pay for it, but the first month has a nice $1 trial fee and it’s just $19 a month after that if you decide to continue on with it. Continue Reading →
So, you’ve got the perfect niche picked out and a prime domain all pimped out. Heck, you might even have a theme that makes other bloggers hate you a little bit. You know, because your blog is so beautiful. But if you don’t know how to create content that helps you convert your blog into a profitable platform, then you’d better be happy with being a “hobby” blogger – no money’s going to come your way. So before we get started, know you truly don’t need to be an official expert to become a respected authority in your niche. Nobody is expecting you to have a PhD, unless you claim that you do.
