BlogFire Method: Tips for Setting Up Your Autoresponder System

Set up your autoresponder for sucess

Setting up a good email autoresponder system is important for an online writing pro and blogger (not to mention small business owner) because it helps you build your list right from the very beginning. Related: All About Building Your List
Some people go the free route because they worry that their list won’t build or convert for them, and they want a return on their investment. The problem is that you eventually have to transfer your list to a paid model with more capabilities and no intrusive advertisements that you’ll have to compete with when you email from a free autoresponder. Many marketers choose to use Aweber. This tool is affordable when you pay for it, but the first month has a nice $1 trial fee and it’s just $19 a month after that if you decide to continue on with it. Continue Reading →

How often should I update my blog?

how often should i update mmy blog

As a life and business coach, I get all kinds of questions via email and social media about how to become a blogger. Today, I’m covering a biggie. How often should you update your blog? I recently set up a resources page for new bloggers who are looking to start their first blog in response to those inquiries (see it here, if you like – everything is totally free!).

OWP News: Sexism in Publishing, When to Tweet and More

ideas change the world

Joanne Harris highlights sexism in the publishing industry in string of tweets – Telegraph – “”No man in publishing is ever described as ‘juggling’ anything,” she said. “His work is art. Women’s work is a hobby.”” Telegraph
Can Digital TV Save Digital Publishing? – “The printed Times, with now half as many paying readers as the digital version, took in about $50 million a month in advertising revenue. The Times currently has 1.5 million paying readers in print and digital, the same total of readers it had for an exclusively print product 20 years ago — at that time it was taking in more than $100 million a month in advertising.” Continue Reading →

bloom flouish shine cover

If you’ve been following along with the Great Kindle Publishing Experiment, you know that I’ve been trying all sorts of different marketing tips and tricks in order to get my arms around what works and what doesn’t. While I’ve done the KDP free days with every book I’ve published so far (and they do seem to work – detailed information coming on that in a future post), I haven’t yet tried the Kindle Countdown Deal. So, since one of my books (which is admittedly slightly outside of my usual genre but still directed at my target audience and close enough to be relevant) isn’t selling as well as the others, I decided to try it with this one. It’s a more career-focused book and one that I hope will help me launch another series in the near future that focuses not only on discovering your passion but also on making money from it (that is, after all, what I do!). The book is called Bloom, Flourish, Shine and it’s priced at $4.49 on the Kindle store. Continue Reading →
